The evidence-to-learning cycle
1
Interactions capture questions and situations
Every time you interact with noou — asking a question, consulting knowledge, engaging with a situation — that interaction is captured. This is the raw material from which everything else is built. The interaction itself does not trigger a path; it contributes to a growing record of how you engage with knowledge.
2
Evidence reveals patterns
Over time, patterns emerge from your interactions. Recurring questions point to gaps in understanding or access. Topics you return to repeatedly suggest that something is not resolving. Situations you face without a clear path forward indicate areas where capability is needed. noou reads these patterns as signals.
3
Characterization identifies whose gaps are relevant and in which situations
Patterns alone are not enough. noou applies characterization to understand which gaps matter for you, in which situations, and at what level. A gap that is critical for someone in one context may be irrelevant for someone in another. Characterization ensures that development actions are targeted to the right person and the right situation.
4
Learning paths are generated to address specific gaps
Once a gap is identified and tied to a specific person and situation, noou generates a learning path designed to close it. The path is not drawn from a generic catalog — it is built around the nature of the gap, the situation that surfaced it, and what you need to be able to do as a result.
5
Application generates new evidence, completing the feedback loop
After you engage with a learning path and apply what you have developed, your interactions continue to generate evidence. noou observes whether the gap is closing — whether you are handling the relevant situations more effectively. That new evidence feeds back into your characterization, refining the picture and informing what comes next.
What triggers a learning path
A learning path is not triggered by a calendar or a predefined curriculum. It is triggered by evidence of real need:- A question you ask repeatedly without resolution
- A situation you face without the knowledge to handle it well
- A pattern of retrieval that suggests you know something exists but cannot access or apply it
- A demonstrated gap between what a situation requires and what your current characterization shows
Personalization
Management-level indicators — such as aggregate capability views and team-level gap summaries — are available on Growth and Enterprise plans and will be documented as those features become available.
